Language 9-12 Months

Language: As a parent, you will witness how you can start to communicate with your baby without them having to speak, incredible! (I know). Your baby begins to understand short phrases, eg. where is ball? They also develop their unique personalities a little further. Baby may choose to point at what they want, use some kind of sign language [it could be taught or they can make up their own] or consciously make simple decisions or answer questions by shaking their head or saying yes/no, eg. Do you want this shirt or that one? Are you hungry?. Parents should take advantage of the fact that the child’s brain is like a sponge. Keep talking, singing, responding to the baby’s babbling and reading books outloud to keep increasing the baby’s vocabulary and meaning of words.
